You might already know me, but let me explain Who I am. I am an overworked, underpaid, overweight,
emotional, perfection driven woman. That being said, I am also, a happy,
passionate, trustworthy, dependable, and dedicated wife and mother.
I was just recently told, by a close male friend of mine,
that he is tired of doing all of the physical related services in our area,
while the women stay at home and make food for the family. It is true. . . I my
very conservative community, we have embraced the traditional roles of men and
women. I am proud of that though.
I am not a sheltered demure individual. My favorite saying
is, “If you want my opinion, and I don’t have one right now, give me five
minutes and I will”. I have been taught
to be a hard worker. I will and can work alongside just about any man (with the
exception of my dad, he’s the hardest worker I know). I rip down walls, build
new ones, know how to empty a clogged drain, can and have assisted in removing old
shingles from a roof, and I enjoy it, but I am happy to be in the kitchen
cooking a meal for a neighbor family, or cleaning the home of a grieving family
more.
Let me explain. My God given role is to be a nurture, (not
to be confused with a coddler, which I will discuss in a later post). I make you a meal, because I know that
sitting at a table with a home cooked meal on the table, helps a family
reconnect. I make you dinner, because I know that food is soothing to the soul.
I make you dinner, because that is my way of saying I love you and I am there
for you. I clean your house, because I
know that you can more clearly hear the promptings of our Heavenly Father when
you have a clean home. I know that to
have a clear head, you have to have a clear surface. I also clean your house
because you are not going to want to clean up after being sick.
So yes, friend of mine, I do often make dinners or clean
houses. I do it because I know that a dinner means more sometimes than a wall
ripped out. I do it because I know that
a clean house heals quicker than refrigerators being moved. I do it because I have
chosen to serve, no matter what capacity, no matter the brute strength.
